Biography

Jason Levangie is a visual artist and a storyteller with a penchant for motion pictures. As a director, designer, editor and animator, he has a hands on approach to filmmaking that informs his visual style in every level of production; be it arts and crafts or lighting design.

A filmmaker with a love for the  surreal, for noir and otherworldly visions, he is passionate about the medium of music videos as a commercial avenue for artistic and experimental expressions that resonate with a wide audience and  create a lasting impression.

Since graduating with a BFA in Film Production and Media Arts from NSCAD University in 2004, Jason has been an active member of the east coast filmmaking community and industry. As a faithful Haligonian with a love for many spheres of Canadian music, he is The NE’s go to Atlantic director.  Recently he’s went to camera for Ghettosock’s new “Out For Treats” video.  He’s also handy behind the production wheel, having produced and PM’d recent NE projects for Joel Plaskett, Julie Doiron, and Classified.

In 2010: he releases his first short film as a director since film school, “Senior Barista”; is in post production as the producer of the Indie Feature “Light is The Day”; and is finishing his second stop motion collaboration. His sights are set on myriad of music video and narrative projects this year; and if you invite him out to brunch he’ll tell you all about it.
